The Professional Sun Lakes Firefighters of Local 3560 were out in force grilling hamburgers, hotdogs and selling T-Shirts to the citizens of Sun Lakes at the 8th Annual Art at The Lakes Festival. Through the hard work of SLEFFRF Treasure Molite and Members Johnson and Kohl Local 3560 was very fortunate to secure a donation from Safeway grocery for the food that was sold at the event.
The Sun Lakes Anglers fishing club along with SLFD Crews were out and about teaching inner city youth about the fun and finer points of fishing. The SLEFFRF donated $500.00 to the club to help off-set the cost of bringing the kids out for the day. The Anglers pay for the School bus ride out to the lake and also provide a sack lunch for the kids.
Local 3560 was out helping the Sun Lakes Women's club move items out of storage units and vacant houses for their annual Bizarre Garage sale on November 4th. Although the weather put quite a hindrance on the moving and selling of items it was still a huge success for the club and SLFD. Over $60,000 was raised during the 3-day event.
After a successful background check, physical exam and contract negotiation the Fire Board voted to appoint Troy Maloney, from the Timber Mesa Fire District, as the new Fire Chief for the Sun Lakes Fire Department today at the monthly Board Meeting.
